Hiring an Interior Designer for Our New Home

· interior design,best interior design,award winning design

When I reached the age of 35, I decided to get an HDB flat. I wanted to live an independent life because I managed to earn enough money to buy a house of my own. Fortunately, I found a reliable interior design firm in Singapore. They came up with a minimalist interior design for my HDB flat.

1. The Problem with No Interior Designer

It was stressful when I first bought a flat because I decided not to hire an interior designer at first. I thought I could handle the renovations because I found some ideas on Pinterest. I just need to hire some construction workers and show them about the designs that I found. It was going well at first, but it became a disaster when the renovations were done because it made the flat look cramped and unbalanced. I have been mixing ideas that I forgot about space planning. I had to redo the renovations so I spent more than the allotted budget for it. It was a good thing that I still had the option to borrow some money from my parents. I used it to hire an interior designer this time.

2. Searching for an Interior Designer

While I was searching for interior design companies in Singapore, I felt like giving up in the middle of it because I found it difficult to evaluate each of the available interior designers in Singapore. Because of this, I sought help from my friends and I asked them if they knew someone who could help me renovate an HDB flat. One of them suggested that I should hire from this particular interior design firm. I checked out their portfolio on their website and I was impressed with what I saw. I love how they transformed a small condo into a cosy, uncluttered home. Since I love their designs, I decided to contact their firm and asked for the interior designer who created the small condo design that I mentioned earlier. At first, I thought it was going to be hard to reach out to them since I had a terrible experience with an interior designer before. It seems like he’s always busy so I failed to schedule an appointment at that time. In the end, I just gave up and looked for another designer. I’m glad that I didn’t experience this again because I got to contact their company right away. They were so accommodating too when I asked for a face-to-face meeting with their designer.

3. Meeting with the Interior Designer

I was kind of nervous because I am not that good at dealing with other people. Good thing, the designer of this was so nice and amiable to work with. She listened to all of the requests that I wanted to happen to my home. She even added some suggestions that would make my ideas better. It was indeed a collaborative work because of this!

I also liked how she came prepared. After enumerating all the things that I would want to happen, she took out some of the reference pictures that she brought with her. It helped me picture out the award-winning interior design themes in Singapore. When the meeting ended, I was so excited with the outcome of this interior design project because of the designs that she showed to me! I can’t wait to have a minimalist home!

4. The Renovation Process

During the renovation process, I have to commend her patience. We both agreed that we should contact each other at a particular time whenever I need to ask for updates. However, I sometimes did not follow this rule so I would still contact her from time to time. She never lost her cool during these times. She was so patient and she would give all the photos and screenshots of her conversations with the renovation contractor. This helped me feel at ease. I have been anxious throughout the renovation process because of what happened last time.

When the renovations were completed, the outcome of this interior design in Singapore was fascinating! I never knew that a small flat can turn into a spacious, comfortable home. Even though there were just a few furniture pieces, it still made the rooms look inviting. It’s as if each of the pieces complements each other so the whole flat doesn’t look cluttered. Even the lighting and fixtures were carefully selected so that they helped improve the entire look of the flat.

Weiken is truly one of the best interior design firms in Singapore. Because of them, I found a designer that helped renovate my HDB flat. Not only did she fix my disastrous flat, but she also made it look a lot better!
